Balsamic Steak Tips

Steak tips are one of my favorite cuts of meat that I receive in my ButcherBox. If you don’t have any steak tips or can’t find any at the store, you can still make this recipe. Just use your favorite cut of beef and slice it into 1-2 inch cubes. You will need to marinate the beef for 24 hours. After that, the recipe is easy and comes together quickly. This dish reminds me of comfort food, so I thoroughly enjoyed every serving.

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs. beef steak tips, or any beef steak cut into 1-2 inch cubes
  • 1-8oz package sliced mushrooms
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 C balsamic vinegar
  • 1/3 C coconut aminos
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 T olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 2 T avocado oil or ghee
  • 1 1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions
  1. In a small to medium bowl, whisk the balsamic vinegar, coconut aminos, garlic, mustard, olive oil, and crushed red pepper. Add the beef tips and stir together to evenly distribute the steak and marinade. Cover and place in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
  2. After the steak has marinated for 24 hours, place a large sauté pan on medium heat and add the avocado oil, onions, and 1/2 teaspoon sea salt. Stir the onions occasionally and cook until they begin to caramelize about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Add the mushrooms, steak with any marinade left in the bowl, and 1 teaspoon sea salt. Stir everything to combine and continue cooking until the steak and mushrooms are done about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Serve with your favorite vegetable side and mashed potatoes.
