Pork Chops with Spiced Apples

This has been a recipe I’ve made off and on for years but forgot about until a friend asked for the recipe. I used pork chops as the protein for this recipe, but a pork tenderloin would work well for this dish as well. The spiced apples add a sweet component with slight tartness that pair perfectly with pork.

Pork Chops with Spiced Apples

This pork recipe will work with pork chops or pork tenderloin. It's easy, flavorful, and Paleo compatible.

Ingredients
  • 2 Granny Smith apples- peeled, cored, and small diced
  • 2 T grass fed butter or ghee
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 C coconut sugar
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp all spice
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 1/2 lbs pork chops
  • 1 T avocado oil
Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan on low heat, add the diced apples, butter or ghee, garlic, coconut sugar cumin, cinnamon, all spices, nutmeg, ½ teaspoon of sea salt, and ¼ teaspoon of pepper. Stirring occasionally, cook the mixture until the apples are tender, about 10 minutes.
  2. While the apple mixture is cooking, sprinkle the pork chops with ½ teaspoon of sea salt and ¼ teaspoon of pepper.
  3. Add the avocado oil to a medium skillet on medium heat. Once the pan is hot, add the pork chops and cook each side for about 7-10 minutes.
  4. If you have thicker pork chops, you will want to place them in the oven at 400 degrees for 7-10 minutes to finish cooking. My pork chops were about 1/2 inch thick, and I did not need to do this.
  5. Once the pork chops are cooked to the desired doneness, top them with the spiced apple mixture and serve.
