Bacon Wrapped Sausage Stuffed Dates

These make an excellent appetizer or dish to put out at the Super Bowl. They are very simple and easy to put together. I’m not sure this even constitutes a recipe, but many people I have made these for had never heard of them before. They are always a crowd-pleaser and you may have to hide them in the refrigerator to keep from eating them all.

Bacon Wrapped Sausage Stuffed Dates

This an easy appetizer recipe that everyone will love. It is Whole30 and Paleo compatible, but even people that are not following either of those protocols will love these.

Ingredients
  • 12oz dates, pitted
  • 7-10 bacon slices
  • 3/4 lb. Italian sausage

Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 315 degrees. In a medium sauté pan over medium heat, add the sausage. Break it up into larger chunks and continue cooking until it has cooked through and is no longer pink.
  2. Cut the bacon slices into thirds. Stuff the cooked sausage into the dates and wrap each date with a piece of sliced bacon. Use a toothpick to hold the bacon in place.
  3. Place the stuffed and bacon-wrapped dates on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Place in the oven and bake for 50-60 minutes.
  4. The bacon should be crispy when the dates are done. Serve them warm
